I've moved here in SG on the 30th Dec, just in time for the new year's celebrations.

It's a change of lifestyle. I've always drove to work but now I'll have to take the MRT. Luckily, I've found a nice place near to an MRT station. It's kinda expensive though but well I'm not used to staying with strangers so I guess have no choice. Anyway, I took some days off before reporting to work and had a great time going to the usual Singapore tourist spots:)

Carrying a bulky dslr is just pain in the neck literally and I've been looking for a more handy camera. I've checked a few brands including the much talked about Fujifilm X100 but in the end I narrowed my choice down to two - Sony Nex 5N and Olympus EP-3. I prefer one with interchangeable lens, I find it fun changing lens:) NEX 5N is definitely a very good camera but I just find it fugly with the big lens and petite body. Sling it in your neck and it would be stooping down staring at your crotch all the time.

And EP-3 is just gorgeous, I love it! It has a built-in array of art filters too, FUN. I'm thinking of getting the M.Zuiko 12mm or the 45mm lens.

Venezia, a small Italian restaurant tucked in a corner near Cheras Leisure Mall. We love the food here. The owner / chef is Italian, a serious-looking guy and we still yet to see him smile:) Buddy told me, he came here once with a visitor colleague and they ordered too much food they can't finish everything. And the chef came and asked them why the leftovers is the food alright or not:)

I like their creamy mushroom soup... never fail to order this every time we come here.

No pizza, we have enough of pizza delivery at home:)

And we tried Market Hall in Pavillion... not worth it...

This pasta just taste terrible, we didn't finished even half of it.

Corn Snake

Finally, we have a corn snake! Just bought it today at Pet World 2011 exhibition in MV. We are very excited:) Now, we have corn snake, fishes, turtles and budgies, erm what's next?:)

And one of our female budgies has laid eggs again. She has already hatched 4 chicks and now 3 more coming. Our place is going to be a mini zoo soon:)

I'm currently reading Justin Cronin's The Passage which I bought in Singapore for S$15. I actually thought, oh it's so cheap! but would probably end up the same price in KL when converted to ringgit:)

Buddy always wanted to buy an ironing board. He has to iron his shirts while I usually wear polo tees (size s:) to work except when I have to attend important meetings, so I don't think I need it. What for? I will tell him. But we finally got one last night... he can't wait to use it:)

I spent the Chinese new year at buddy's hometown in Johor for the fifth straight time. I think I'm officially part of the family now:) His relatives know me already, I join their family reunion dinner and they gave me ang pow:)

We stopped by at the restoran jejantas Ayer Keroh reststop and bought this pair of shoes at a shop there. I like the style and color:) Buddy was driving when I took it out from the box and start admiring it haha.. Well I always get excited having a new pair of shoes haha but I don't hoard okay:)

There was one time when I went shopping with my sis and bought a pair. When we went back to her house, I quickly wear it and walked around the living room in circles. 'Oh I love this, it's so nice' I keep saying. 'Hey look at my shoes, its so nice' I told my 7yr old niece and 5yr old nephew who were looking at me and probably thinking their uncle is crazy haha...

The weather was mad, been raining there for a few days!

On the eve, buddy cooked the dinner, not bad:)

I have gay and lesbian relatives both from my mother and father's side. Some are out and flaunting it and some are closeted which the family are aware of anyway but don't really make a fuss about it. One of my cuz, we know he's gay but got married anyway and produced an offspring (and managed to poke his stick into a real moist vajayjay yay) and now he's got a lil cute son! I'm jealous haha..

I have a lesbian aunt who's openly living with a girl partner. And I remember when I was a kid, my eldest sister was very close to our young flamboyant uncle. He's so funny and everytime he's around, we just keep laughing like crazy. He passed away of cancer a couple of years ago, we had so much fond memories of him.

Then I showed to buddy one of my young cousins in FB. 'Hey, look at her, isn't she pretty?' I asked him. He replied, yes she is. She's a he. Really? Yes, she even created a photo collage sort of a babyboy to ladyboy:) - when he's still baby, toddler to how she looks like now. Cool. it runs in the family eh? haha

CHERAS Leisure Mall's 'Toy Bank' is a yearly Christmas charity programme for orphanage homes where shoppers can fulfill wishes by choosing a card that were hanged in their christmas booth, from 3 - 26 December 2010.

We took 6 cards and get the things kids wished for. It's not really much, like they are wishing for pair of shoes, dictionary, PMR work books, shirts, school bags...

There are still a lot of cards hanging there, so dropped by Cheras Leisure mall and make some kids happy this holiday season.

We went to The Gardens last Sunday. First stop, Borders. Saw two tall handsome guys, darn they look hot! Definitely couple. Dress up the same, buddy commented they look like brothers (incest! hah) and we happen to queue at the counter at the same time.

You know what, they look at me, I told buddy, I think because I have the same beauty as them. He goes: HAHAHA, yeah the backside. Buddy just refused to ride on with my delusions:D

No, it's me they're looking at, I can sense it. Yeah, right!, I replied. We had a good laugh.

I've almost reached the last chapter of The Ancestor's Tale, I love Richard Dawkins! And together with Stephen Hawking's The Grand Design, one book talking about how the universe was formed and one trying to trace our ancestors back to millions of years, god just won't fit in the picture.

I received a letter from the tax office the other day. Well, I thought, nothing new, they always send these all the time. But surprise, surprise! There's a check inside. They're giving me back RM2,501! I was like, is this some kind of a joke?!:) So nice, Christmas gift!:)

You see, when I filed my tax returns online the last couple of years, I don't bother to put all sorts of claims, I just put in there the personal deduction allowed and that's it. Anyway, it's already taken out from monthly salary and most of the time I don't even open my pay slip... so what's left I accept loh:) I had this one case last year and I don't want it happening again. I'd rather have it clean, just don't want a bomb dropped asking me to pay huge moolah as if I'm a billionaire.. :)

hmmm.. i should get something nice for myself this christmas:)

It's the christmas season again! Time to take out our deco from last year. I can't help thinking about how boring our little christmas tree without some blinking lights on. I took the lights buddy bought some time ago and wrapped around it. One round, two round... I thought erm this is too long. I was tempted to cut it short but I'm not sure if it still works if I do that. So I continue and continue til the last bit. And it ends up like this...

It doesn't look pretty eh.... too lazy to unwound it, and darn the glitters were all over place.

The chicks are getting bigger now and looks like they are too cramped in their small nest. But we can't find a wooden nest box everywhere! Well, I figured I just have to make for them and I remember seeing some stuff in Daiso that I can use to build one.

So last weekend, we dropped by Daiso and bought the things I need, put them into the car while we continue our shopping. Buddy liked the long sleeve shirts in Uniqlo and wanted to get another pair while I'm looking for a present for a colleague. Came back home late at night, can't wait to do my project. It's almost 2am when it's done.

I always thought if I'll have a big house, I'll certainly would have sort of a hobby workshop for carpentry and stuff. I enjoy fixing things:)

Our budgie hen's eggs has already hatched. The first chick came out last 16th Nov while it's little bro, or it might be a sis, came out the next day. It's good that there's only two of them, at least not too taxing for the first time parents to take care of.

Its been 2 weeks and their nest really needs some cleaning, so I took them out and put them back quickly because their mommy dearest was freaking out. Their down has already started growing, look at them, aren't they adorable?:)

Buddy bought a box of bird's nest (which I always think its ridiculously too expensive.) With that kind of money, you can already get three nice shirts. Why don't you just harvest those nests at the parking basement?They're far more fresh, you know (was kidding him). Because there are plenty of 'em down there and they got nothing to do, they spent their time target shooting cars with their birdshits in between building nests and making babies.

cookies and banana bread

Last weekend, we bought a small oven. It's really buddy's idea, he said we wanted to bake cookies. I said I'm not interested in baking (I can just imagine the mess, the utensils you need to wash later on, nope not for me). But then once we have it, I change my mind:) I was eager to make banana and carrot cake (my favorites:)

We went to the supermarket but unfortunately the Giant nearby our place doesn't have all the things buddy needed. I was able to get everything for my banana bread though.

Sunday morning, while he was still in bed, I started doing my low-fat banana bread which I got the recipe from http://www.joyofbaking.com/healthydesserts/

Mix 1: flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon and salt; Mix 2: mashed bananas, baking soda and yogurt ; Mix 3: oil, sugar, egg, and vanilla.

I mix all of them and pour into a tray. I didn't follow exactly the amount of sugar and oil, I put only half of what was written to make it even more healthy:)

Yay, look at that, it started to grow!

And then I saw it started to drip from the sides, I realized I shouldn't have put all in one tray (i'm such a dumbass:) Too late. Lesson no. 1: give enough room for it to swell.

Who's going to eat that!

After 50 minutes.. Ta-dah! oh my, it doesn't look pretty. Lesson no. 2: try to control the heat distribution - top and bottom heating.

The taste, it's not bad really *big grin*

Lunchtime, we went to a baking shop in Shah Alam called Bagus Baking Solutions Center to get all the stuff buddy needs for his cookies (Man, this is serious:). There's going to be many aunties there, buddy informed me.

Then quickly went back home, he can't wait to bake his cookies. He made oatmeal-pecan cookies. Not bad actually.

I saw one weird shape among the hearts, crescents and rounds. What's that? I pointed out to him. It's a dick, he replied. Erm, but it doesn't look anatomically correct (i think it looks like a turd hah:)

Cupping Therapy

We went for our regular massage today in the usual center in Cheras. The Chinese masseuse recommended that I should do cupping. I'm not really too keen to try it when I saw buddy's back after he had one before. But then I said yes, I thought there's no harm in trying. It's supposed to be good for backaches and such.

And so I had my first cupping therapy and this is how my back looks like now. There's no pain actually. ermm but I'm not sure if I would want to walk around topless in the gym's locker room, not a pretty sight:)

I'm thinking if I should rub some ointment on the circles. When I look at the dark reddish coloration, I'm kind of worried if there could be some side effect on this or something. Haizz. I'm such a baby hah.

We noticed Angelina (our female budgie) has been spending a lot of time inside the nest box. One night, when she came out, I quickly grab a torchlight to take a peek inside. Lo behold, I saw a little white egg! I was so excited, I hopped with glee (no i didn't burst out singing). 'She laid an egg! She laid an egg!'. Buddy's face lit up 'really, let me see... yeah so lucky. hey you have to feed her nutritious food.' hhmm yes sir.

The next day back home from work, can't wait to check how's the expecting mom doing. But a gruesome sight greeted me, there's a broken egg down the cage! Fuck! you stupid birds you are killing your own kind. Somehow I knew there's bad thing waiting to happen, one of the female birds was behaving as if she had some bad intentions, she kept looking inside the nest with sinister look in her eyes:) I was so upset, felt like wanna plucked the culprit's feathers and turn her into a tiny dressed chicken. But nah:) So quickly I transferred the others to another cage, and let the couple start a family away from the jealous females scorned:) (She must have gotten the idea from Glenn Close:)

Anywayz, she laid two more eggs. Now, she's getting more alert. Every time we get near the cage, she would scamper off back inside. Hey, we are not egg-snatchers okay, its your evil sister! (but we do love to play balls:)

So I had a short trip to Singapore last week. I forgot to bring one of my novels so I went to the bookstore at the airport to get something to read. And look what I found!

Last week, our big boss together with a visitor from HQ was around and we had round of meetings. Friday's meeting was scheduled at 8 sharp in the morning. I was the first presenter so have to woke up a little bit earlier than usual. 7:20, went down, went to my car (which is parked outside because buddy has taken our sole parking bay) and to my horror saw one of the tires was punctured. Damn! why now?!. I figured it would take time to change it and I will be late by then.

Went back to our place and called up cabs but I have to wait! I can't, I need to be in office before 8. Buddy volunteered to send me there. But the thing is I work in Nilai. He said no problem, he's in sales he can always make up excuses. He quickly changed clothes. He has not even taken shower yet (and when I came home at night, i came back earlier than him, I saw his toothbrush in the sink with the toothpaste still on it, poor guy).

On the way, I have to remind him not to drive too fast. I made it on time and my presentation went well. I can sense I've already gain the trust of our boss ever since my first project came out successfully (it's already launched in some countries, positive reception and you might have seen the adverts... patting my own back haha;).
Afternoon, he called up to check on me if I can get a ride back home (he's so sweet:) No worries, one of my colleagues will send me back.

Buddy is one of the nicest guys I've ever known (okay I'm bias:)

A pair of our budgies is mating! Yeah I saw them making love in the early morning:)

On the left is Angelina and the one on the right is Brad hehe. You can tell their sex by their ceres (the fleshy area above the beak where the "nostrils" are located). Females always have a whitish or brown cere while the adult males will usually have blue ceres. See, I'm getting to know more and more about budgies:)

We've got them for more than a year now. And I take really good care of them, can't rely on buddy, he's just good at admiring them. Some more he's actually the one who's so eager to have all these pets (our pug and rabbits when we were still in Johor and now the birds and turtles. Except the fishes which are mine:). And I would always say can't, who's going to take care them? And one day he would arrived home with a cage and a pair of birds. Which actually get me excited, oh so cute!:) He wanted to buy a corn snake, which I have to say no, what if it escapes from the aquarium? It will shallow the birds! (I'm not sure of that though, I simply say one hehe)

Anyway, back to our birdies. They like to eat greens but it wither fast when put inside the cage. So one day, I figured a way that they can have their fresh salad whenever they want!

I bought a bunch of this.

Plant them in the pots and let them grow back.

And put them beside the cage with the leaves inside. voila! They love it!

They also like the fruit pulps from the juicer but we don't prepare juice often so I chop fruits finely for them because if I put a big piece of fruit inside, they won't touch it.

Okay there's one more pet that I really like and can't stop thinking about it ever since we saw them one weekend at the petshop in MV. It's the Fisher's two horned chameleon. They're so cute! I gotta have one or a pair:)

Last Saturday night, we stayed home and watched dvd. Instead of junk foods, we had strawberries, blueberries and grapes that we picked up at the grocery earlier. Yeah thats Tiger Woods in Vanity Fair at the height of his philandering brouhaha, buddy bought that:)

The grapes tasted funny, buddy commented it is already spoiled. So I took the packaging and saw the name Korean campbell grapes. I simply picked it up because it looks attractive. I checked in the internet and found out the complete name is Korean Campbell Early Hwaseong Grapes. Somebody described it as tastes like 'champagne-flavoured gummies', which is absolutely right. I guess this is not to everyone's liking though.

The strawberries were huge.

Unfortunately, the dvd copy was crappy. A nightmare on Elm Street (I think it's a remake), they've probably made a hundred sequels of this movie.:)

The movie was bad too, it's not scary at all. But we don't have anything else to watch so I just sit still because buddy he gets really upset when I leave him watching alone.

And I noticed our last year's christmas decor are still hanging. I have nothing much to do so I was playing with my camera and took all these photos:)

Right after gym, we went for a massage. This time we went to a new place instead of the centre that we usually go, the masseurs and masseuses (ok say that 10times as fast as you can) there were also from China. We checked the prices and I whispered to buddy, 'so expensive, almost double the price from the other place'. But we tried anyway.

The next day, I felt something sore at my nape. Hey, come see my back, she massaged me so hard until the skin also come off. Let me see, buddy checking, yeah, we should call them and complain. I said, no need la, she also didn't do this on purpose.

It happened again one night last week. 'Hey hey what's wrong?' Buddy was trying to wake me up. I can feel his palm pressing my chest. He said he can hear me making some scared noises. Bad dream again. Ever since I was young, I seem to get nightmares easily. He's used to it now, last time he dragged me to see his traditional Chinese doctor to check what's wrong with me, and had accupuncture -- in the head! I remember many years ago, in one of those sleepovers at my cousin's place and had a nightmare there and my cousin was freaked out. Sometimes I'm kinda worried I might embarrass myself while sleeping in the plane during a flight:) And the reason why I will never sleep naked alone because I would have those funny thoughts what if I die while asleep?... and get exposed to people who stumbled on me the next day :D Yikes it won't be pretty sight! Erm, or it could be just that I'm insane in the brain and just didn't know it (oh that reminds me its been a long time didn't hear Cypress Hill :)

'Hey hey what's wrong? What did you dream about?'. I mumbled, 'a witch was trying to eat me' and doze off back to sleep.

Anyone passing by our place would think a bunch of people are staying inside seeing all the flip-flops parked at our door. Well, we are kind of the flip-flop guys, we just love 'em. They're comfortable and fit perfectly well in our sizzling weather. And with shorts, we are ready to go anywhere:)

We have already thrown away 2 pairs before this photo was taken. And lately, retired another 3 more pairs including that dirty yellow colored one:)

And anyone getting inside our bathrooms would surely notice the overflowing bottles of shampoo and showergels. I once told buddy to stopped buying these already. He replied, 'can't! this makes me happy.' I kind of 'oh okay'.

We can't possibly finish them all even if we do shower twice a day. Just a month ago, we have already exiled a few barely used bottles to his Auntie's place. She doesn't have to buy shampoo and showergels anymore, she's assured of an uninterrupted supply:)

'I don't know why you bought these, they all stink!'. There goes some more for his Auntie.

These are the caterpillars that I featured in my previous post. Yesterday, I took some photos when they were still around. This morning I woke up late and saw only the transparent cocoons. I thought I'm not gonna see how they look like in the end. Well, I found some of their their siblings are still left behind, I took one them and put it in a transparent plastic container... I'll be waiting.

I went for my annual medical check-up, company sponsored, last Saturday in one of the clinics in PJ. I noticed the staff there were senior citizens, from the receptionist and the nurses. When we came in, I saw a goodlooking guy waiting. I sat beside him:)

Its a 3storey clinic, groundfloor I peed into a glass bottle.

1st floor, the doctor took my bp, poked me here and there, and sucked my blood (with a syringe). He seems to be taking his time, he did things slowly. Chitchatting and asked me stuff like where I'm staying blah blah.. I tremble at the sight of needles and blood (buddy suggested I should go for accupunture often to overcome that). I will never watched them do it, I usually look away. When the doctor blurted 'Oh it slipped', I looked down and saw bloods smearing my right arm. Yikes! I just kept quiet but in my mind I was like can you please do it properly. You will have far more problem if I get fainted. He has to do it again this time in my left arm, blood trickled, oh my is it not done yet? And this is what I got, a bruised arm.

2nd floor, I had x-ray. The machine looked old and the operator was a sprightly old uncle. They could have gotten it when he was still a young virgin lad.

One day, we saw two little green caterpillars nibbling at the leaves of our lovely Jasmine plants. We don't know how they end up at our balcony, we are at 9th floor. Did their Mom flew that high just to lay her eggs up here? hmm she must have been lured by some strange mystical flowery force into our place:)

Now they are on their beauty sleep. We can't wait for them to turn into lovely butterflies! (or they might transform into a bland brown moth? who knows..)

Last weekend, we went to KLCC and hang out at the place I love so much -- Kinokuniya! We were supposed to watch movie but were put off by the long queue. I was completely oblivious of the time and when buddy told me it's time to go, I thought but we just came in. He told me we've already been there for 2 hours. I spent the whole time at the popular science section, browsing through all the Dawkins, Hawkings, Feynmans... I've always wanted to read Dawkin's but end up buying some fictions, but not this time. I bought his 'The Ancestor's Tale', brilliant!

You see, I have this problem of taking ages to finish reading a book, yeah the usual 'don't have enough time' reason. So now what I do, I had the it beside the bed and just before I go to sleep, I would read a few pages. And when sleepiness catches in, I just put the book aside and before I knew it I already doze off. A good way to relax and forget about the day's hassles.

A month ago, me and buddy had dinner in a restaurant nearby our place. While we were eating, I was surprised to see a colleague came in, I know he's staying a bit far away. Didn't expect he will be there all the way just to have dinner there. With him was a colleague as well from another department. I can't remember her name. They saw us and came by to our table to say hi. Introduced buddy which apparently he met before in an official function.

The next day in the office we had a brief chat and he asked about where's buddy working and all.

I didn't think much about it then. But last weekend, we saw them again together in Pavillion. The girl was clutching his arm. Oh my!? They are couple! I can't believe it! I've always thought he likes guys.. oppss haha.. (dunno but somehow the scence looked kinda awkward:) The first time I met him like a few years ago when I was still in my previous job, I thought, hmm I'm sure he's one of us (not bad, his cute hah)

And just a few weeks before, I had drink with him in hotel bar where there were a few working girls prowling. Some were actually eyeing us while we were sitting in a corner. I thought sorry ladies, you don't inspire our loins:)

Buddy suggested, 'oh we should lead him to the right path!' :D

I just got new lens, an AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G for my camera. I've come across some photography sites which highly recommended it. It's sharp, fast and does well in low light conditions (which is what I needed because I don't like using flash as much as possible). And they talk about bokeh (always remind me of bukkake) and stuff. Prime lens are also smaller, really a good thing when travelling.

So the past 2 Saturdays, we went to Plaza Low Yat. But I can't made up my mind, I'm not sure if it's really something I need, questions came like should I get the superzooms instead? Lens aren't cheap, I'd better think it over first before making a decision. Well, I could be really obsessive on something and the past days I keep talking of getting one. Last Friday, buddy told me he will buy it for me. Yesterday for the 3rd time we went to Low Yat and voila I finally had one. Happy!

Right after getting out from bed this morning, I went straight took some photos of my potted plants. Can't wait to play with it:)

We also went to check some handphones while in low yat. Buddy is one of those people that keep changing handphones. And he commented some of those salesguys there talk like gangsters. I've notice that too. I have had one experience before and the guy was just plain rude and I was really pissed off big time.

I bought these dvd sets a few weeks ago and manage to watched a few of the movies so far, Roman Polanski's Chinatown and Rosemary's Baby. I've watched The Pianist a few years ago, I thought it's brilliant. I've read a lot about Rosemary's Baby, it's kinda interesting but it didn't scare me. I guess I was expecting really something 'fuck-i-cant-stand-to-watch-kind of scary' but Polanski's movies are of the intelligent sort, some of his movies I guess most people would find boring.

Lars Von Trier films are no doubt the arthouse kind. I've seen Dancer in the Dark a few years ago, with Bjork in it. Can't really remember much of it now but I can recall it's a depressing movie. Its one of those movies you felt bad after watching it. But then it's a good movie though in a sort of interesting unique way (am I making sense here?:). Lately, I've watched The Idiots, plenty of nudity and there's an explicit orgy scene. I've also watched The Kingdom. There's this Swedish neurosurgeon character working in a Danish hospital who would go up the rooftop and looking at the Swedish shores and would suddenly shout "Bloody Danes!" (that is what the subtitles say). I won't be watching a movie marathon of his films anytime soon though, they're meant to be watch when you are in the right mood for these kind of stuff.

I've always love to watch arthouse films, the more unconventional the better:) Sometimes I'd get lucky and find some gems among those stacks of pirated DVDs in those video shops and can't help get excited to stumble on the likes of David Cronenberg's Crash, Larry Clark's Kids, Greenaway's The Pillow Book.... :)

I went to Jakarta last Monday and so did buddy but on different flights. We stayed at the same hotel but on different rooms. The hotel has tight security, cars getting in the premises were checked and you and your luggage go through scanners just like in airports. One morning we had breakfast together. Our work travels coincide this time. I stayed there much longer than him though.

Buddy told me this funny story, ewww so disgusting he would say. He brought one of their customers out for entertainment there in Jakarta, to capped the night they went to a massage center. While he was lying on bed, the masseuse suddenly climb on top of him and started rubbing sensuously her mammary glands on his back! He's kind of freaked out and scolded her with the pointing finger, 'Don't touch me!'. The startled girl meekly replied 'Yes sir, yes sir' and got up. I think she likes me, she asked me to take off all my clothes at the start which I refused. Slut. I'm going to kick her on the crotch and pinch her nipples. I burst out laughing when he recounted the experience complete with the funny expressions. Yeah one of those hazards associated with his job.

Yesterday, we went to Sungai Buloh. Visited a temple, prayed and gave some donation because buddy's fortune teller told him to do so.

Buddy: Linda said there's a dark ghost that keeps following me.
Me: What?! You believe all those stuff? If she told me that, I'm going to burst out laughing. Where got duck ghost!
Buddy: Not a duck that quacks, idiot. It's DARK.
Me: Oh I thought you said duck hahaha

After the temple, we dropped by some of the nurseries. Lovely flora everywhere. My kind of place! Decided to just look around because there's no space for more in our place. But then we saw a venus flytrap and could'nt resist. I'm thinking of putting it beside the trash, so that the treats is within its reach:)

Well I remember a few months ago, one night on the way up to our unit. There's this old couple inside the lift with us. We just came back from Ikea then, we were carrying stuff and potted plants. The uncle struck a conversation with us, asking questions like where we bought the plants and such. And when he heard we got them from Ikea, he told us we should go to Sungai Buloh with a 'sarcastic I-can't-believe-you-people tone in his voice and expression'. We thougth what a nosy uncle, can't mind his own business. And we kept quiet, his wife smiled. Now I understand.

Buddy suggested we go to Ijok for lunch. First time heard of the place. Ijok, it has some funky exotic ring to it:) We went to a restaurant located further inside and they have a specialty called beggar's chicken, but they're not open yet. They must be really famous to get good business with such a somewhat hidden place. Then we went to another supposedly famous restaurant in the area (I can't remember the names) but then they were booked for some function lunch or something. So we ended up in another restaurant where the food was so-so but I didn't really care much, I was hungry.

A few days before that furniture shop with the big chair was gutted by fire (previous post), we bought there a queen-size mattress yeah because we are queens:p It just fit nicely in our small room, which is not originally our room but the aircon in the masterbedroom was busted so we moved here.... we kind of like the small room eventually, and we figured it would require less energy to cool up. our small way to help save mother earth:)

Anyway, last weekend we went back to Johor to visit our beloved doggie. We dropped by Kluang to have our lunch, which is Tangkak beef noodles (yeah Tangkak beef noodles in Kluang).

Then we had coffee (i mean buddy, i'm not a coffee drinker:). We didn't go to the original place right beside the railway station though. We had it in their branch(not sure if they are related) in front of Kluang parade.

And then quality time with Axton. We just love this little fella!

While driving back to KL, we thought of buying a juice extractor. We chose this.

While we can hear the loud sirens of the firetrucks whisked by, the firemen busy trying to put out the fire that is engulfing the furniture shop nearby, we were busy devirginizing the machine:)

and then we started hoarding all kind of fruits like there's no tomorrow:)

The past few days, we've been watching Ugly Betty Season 4. Buddy bought the dvds, it's one of our favorite series. Anyway, the story was getting strange, Betty's finally getting rid of her braces, she seems getting prettier and more fashionable. And in the finale, she accepted a job in London, Daniel stepping down to gave way to Wilhelmina as editor-in-chief, Mark is going to have a creative responsibility and Amanda has finally found her father. Everything seems perfect, Justin has a bf and everyone's so cool about it, Gilda's getting married (and there's this really cutesy scene where Justin and his new bf Austin joined his mom & husband slow dancing during the wedding party:) ...

While we were watching the final scene of the last episode, I just had this feeling, 'oh wait, is this going to be the last season?' And said to buddy 'I think this is going to be the last season!'. Is it? buddy replied. I think so, while I hurried get my computer and googled Ugly Betty. See I'm right, it says here Season 4 will be the last season! Boy, its kinda sad... we won't have Ugly Betty to look forward to.

and i love trip-hop too, sneaker pimps when Kelli Dayton was the vocals. When I bought their second album splinter many years ago, and Chris Corner sung, i felt cheated, that album sucks big time, just doesn't sound right without Kelli:) and Massive attack, Morcheeba, Portishead, Moloko, Thievery Corporation.....

A dead bird & a new camera

This morning, we found one of our budgies is dead:( he's the only male. Now we have all 3 females left behind. Poor girls, the man in the house is gone now. Well, I hope he rest in peace in bird's heaven...

Anyway, I've finally bought a dslr camera. Well this is actually my fifth camera. The first two were films. The first I can't even remember what it was. The second I was smoothtalked into buying by a salesguy in a shop, which I eventually used only for a very shortwhile because by then almost everyone was already using digital. The third one is a Sony Cybershot, two years ago I bought a bridge cam Olympus S-570 UZ and now I'm ready for the next level:)

A conversation with the boss of one of the shops.
Boss: Are you going to be in a group or alone?
Me - 'confused': I don't know, I'd be alone I guess. Why?
Boss: Because if you are in a group, it would be good if you get similar as the rest so that in case your lens jammed or something, or if you need to borrow a lens from your friends it would be easier.
Me: Oh i see. That's a good idea.
(i figured besides that, somebody can show you how to use the camera features if they are using same brand)

I would have bought a D90 but I find it too heavy and bulky for me (I can't imagine walking around with it without breaking my neck:). I didn't have a hard time choosing Nikon over Canon though, I like the grip of D5000 over 500 or 550D. I have checked and read so many articles, reviews and comparisons but in the end I have far more things to worry other than the nitty-gritty technical pros and cons, first I have to improve my skills and learn how to take good photos:) And from there let's see how it goes:)

I'm planning to get a new dslr camera. Weighing on the so many choices, I narrowed down to two brands Canon or Nikon (well based on what I've read you can't get wrong on 'em:). And with my budget, I'd probably go for mid-range the new Canon 550D, 500D or Nikon D5000. Hmm I'm not really sure what else to consider, any suggestions?

I've always love photography and I'm gonna make this a serious hobby. I'm now reading getting-started guides and such. I know there are many of you guys out there who are good in this, anyone willing to teach me? I'd be very grateful:)

The Holidays

During the cny holidays, we spent a week in buddy's hometown in Johor, been doing this for the past 4 years.

11th Feb Thursday night, right after work, we packed our things, had dinner and picked up his cousin in Cheras. By then, it was already 10pm when we leave KL.

I was sleepy, he was sleepy, we take turns driving. His cousin who doesn't seem to stop talking, fall asleep halfway. We finally arrived past 1am. Tired and exhausted.

There's a lovely lotus plant at the yard. A flower was in full bloom.

And then the petals started to shed and came swirling down, joining the grasses in the ground.

When the petals have all finally fell down, what remained was the curious receptacle standing holding the green seeds until they would turn brown.

The cycle continues, a beautiful bud on the verge of blooming.

And a yellow grasshopper came by to nibble on the soft green leaves.

('why you didn't kill it?' buddy asked when he saw this photo. 'It's destroying my plant!' Actually, I saw 2 of them, disturbing them wasn't even in my mind much less crushing them.. I thought it's a lovely scene, grasshoppers in the lotus plant:)

Our doggie was so delighted to see us again, I'm so delighted too. It's been five months since the last time I saw him.

I've always been wearing boxers and I don't feel comfortable in briefs. Briefs just felt too constricting, I can't breath hah... except of course when gymming or playing sports.

Anyway, 3dots has become one of my fave brands. I like the cutting and the waste band is soft and comfy.

One year

It's been a year since I move to KL and a year in my current job!

My first day of work was memorable not because of work, it was a boring whole day induction program, but because I don't know the way back to my new home! You see, when I first moved here from Johor we went straight to Shah Alam. I didn't really get the chance to drive from the south straight to our current place in Desa Petaling. So the first day, I asked buddy where should I exit to get home coming from Nilai (where my new company is located). He gave me the not so easy direction, he actually also didn't know the way, he have to asked a friend! And I end up somewhere in Cheras. Crazy... I started to freaked out. Called him, 'are you sure you this is the right way? I have no idea where am i now!'. Well I did find my way home though that night:)

Well it's also been a change in my lifestyle too. Whereas before, it only takes me less than 10mins to go to work, but now I have to drive from KL to Nilai everyday Monday to Friday. Whereas last time, I had plenty of time to do things right after work, jog, swim, workout, gardening, play with my doggie Axton... now its seems time is not enough. But I'm not complaining, it's a welcome change, new experiences always make life more interesting:)

I don't get to travel often though now, unlike my previous job where I'd be traveling overseas regularly. And somehow I missed going to new places for free:)

A few days ago my boss asked me if I don't have problem moving to Singapore. I replied, 'you mean to stay there?' She said yes. I said no I don't have problem at all. Well apparently there are plans our regional lab might be transferred to SG soon.

Again, it looks like a start of a new life coming...

We just upgraded our aquarium to a much bigger one. No we didn't purposely picked the pink lamp, there's just no other colour left to choose from:)

We have a pair each of 3 types of tiger fish (well what could be more appropriate for the year of the tiger:)

When I reach home from work, I would usually go straight feed our fishes. Today, I saw one of them was stucked in the filtration system. 'Oh one of the fishes is dead!' I told buddy who came back home earlier and was already playing PS3. Hey, how come I don't see its partner? I keep looking and...

I have a new pair of shoes! and I love them:D Last week, when I first saw a photo of 'em in a blog, I said I gotta have that. So yesterday after having our haircut, we went straight to Puma lifestyle store in Pavillion. And I was delighted to see it displayed, sitting in the shelf like its kind of waiting for me (come come my man, I know u've been looking for me:) Immediately I asked the sales staff for my size but then only one size left which was a small size 6, darn, I felt so disappointed.

And I asked the staff if I can try on that pair the mannequin was wearing. Sorry mannequin that does not belong to you, that's mine! Haizz turn out its a size bigger. (and after I tried it on, a cute guy came asking for the same shoe design and tried the same pair. well turns out we were looking for same shoe size and I can sense the same disappointment in his face. Misery does loves company hah) Are there any new stock coming in? I asked the sales guy. He said no. Can you please check from your other outlets if they still have stocks? (desperate time calls for desperate measure:) The staff was so helpful, he made a call to enquire and came back with the good news, there's still one pair of my size left in their outlet in The Gardens. Can you tell them to hold that for me please? I'm going to pick it up tomorrow. Reservation was made after providing my name and contact number.

But then when we went to the shoe shop next door, they have them! Yey I'm excited. And it's only RM189.90:) You see, I'm very easily pleased, little things like this makes my day:)

(by the way, I canceled my reservation so if you are interested and your are size 7 UK, go get 'em in The Gardens MidValley :D

I'm not really comfortable talking about my private life (ahemm really?:)... in fact, I hate it when people ask me private stuff which I thought you don't really ask unless people voluntarily tell. There's one time (like 4yrs ago:) when me and buddy went to Johore and we stayed in this small hotel. Buddy went to see his cousin for a while the next morning, so noon time I checked-out alone and waited for him at the lobby.

Then the male receptionist looked at me in this really funny, a bit annoying way (like I was thinking, stopped staring or I'm gonna punch your face !:). Nobody there at that time except me and him in the lobby. And then he probably can't hold it any longer and he asked: "Are you gay?". I was thinking what the fuck, is he for real?? But instead of getting angry I actually just laughed out loud. Oh my, I've never had a complete stranger asking me like that. I was so caught off guard by his candidness. Anyway, he added: "Don't worry I'm gay too." Hah.. I thought yeah I can tell. Then he continued, "I say that because your friend looks like one, he's a bit obvious but you you are not". opppss hahaha

So when buddy came back, I told him about it when we were already in the car. And boy, he was not pleased hah.. Well I told him, with your hair dyed like that and that sexy singlet and white shorts, its very obvious and you are flaunting it like an excited peacock glowing in full regalia. So he started thinking about changing his image... Fast forward, now when he saw his past clothes like the dozen of singlet in the drawer some with glitters somemore, he cringed with horror. He would say, "Did I wear these?". Yes, you did, I would reply. "Yikes, why did you not stopped me." Oh but you loved these stuff so much before, right?.. hah

And then there's one more question the nosy receptionist blurted out that really floored me. Nonchalantly he asked, "So did you two have sex last night?"... opppsss

When ps2 came out like years ago, I also had one. I get tired of it eventually and gave it to my nephew together with the tons of games that I collected.

And for this Christmas, we've been good boys throughout the year so we gifted ourselves with a new ps3! :)

Buddy insisted his controller has to be red, he likes red colour. It's no wonder our curtains, our sofa and other stuff in our home are red, and I've told him a few times that, 'I think our house is getting too gay!'. hah

And one can't avoid wondering why?

While most would want to cling to life, others perhaps feel the unbearableness of it, its not worth all the trouble there is?

To each his/her own. Peace perhaps is what they've been longing for and maybe peace they've finally attained... and life goes on for the living..... and who got the best bargain?

a fish with a fin

I have a new hobby! Well besides gardening (which is really means transferring a plant to another pot and watering them hah), I'm into fish now, yeah the ones that swim. So last weekend bought this black colored fish with a beer-belly who swims funny. Anyway, while staring at them my fishes (yes I can just look at them for some time while theyre swimming around ), I discovered something!

Me (in a loud surprise voice): Hey, this fat fella here has one fin missing! Come, look! How come I didn't noticed it in the shop.

Buddy came to look.

Me: So pity, he's handicapped.

Buddy (in a really concerned tone): Oh yeahh, nevermind we will take care of him. (erm, sounds like buddy's motherly instinct kicks in hah)

(trivia: there are 5 types of fins in a fish: pectoral, pelvic, dorsal, caudal and anal.... oh my, fish also does anal? hah:p)

Bali Part 1: The Island of God

It wasn't planned really. Early October, we kind of impulsively booked a flight to Bali at the end of the month and stayed there for five days.

Bali is such a beautiful, fascinating island because of it's people and their culture and traditions which is still very much alive.

When we arrived, we saw these nuns. See even nuns need to have a break :)

The hotel we stayed, not bad and the price is reasonable.

They have their own small temple inside the compound, which is common in Bali. Everyday, we saw this guy putting offerings in the altar.

We hired a car and a tour guide to bring us around the island.

First stop, Barong Dance.

Barong is a character in the mythology of Bali. He is the king of the spirits, leader of the hosts of good, and enemy of Rangda in the mythological traditions of Bali. Banas Pati Rajah is the fourth "brother" or spirit child that accompanies a child throughout life. Banas Pati Rajah is the spirit which animates Barong. A protector spirit, he is often represented by a lion, and traditional performances of his struggles against Rangda are popular parts of Balinese culture.

The lion barong is one of five traditional Barong. In Bali each region of the island has its own protective spirit for its forests and lands. Each Barong for each region is modeled after a different animal. There is a boar, a tiger, a dragon (or serpent) and the traditional lion. The lion is the popular one as it comes from the Gianyar region where Ubud (the home of tourist viewed ritual) is located. Bali Part 5: Kuta Beach

Had our lunch, then bought some souvenirs to bring back to KL. Went back to the beach again on the evening, with a bottle of beer to enjoy the sunset.

Bali Part 6: Kuningan Festival

We are sort of lucky to come at the right time in Bali. We told our guide Sandi that we wanted to visit the temples. He informed us that the next day is actually a big religious festival called the Hari Raya Kuningan. He suggested we wear the right attire, the sarong and the headress so that we can join him to pray in the temples. erhm I was apprehensive at first but what the heck just try.

So the next day Sandi help us put on the sarung, saput and the headress. I wear a matching blue ensemble and buddy all in red. We are supposed to blend in with the crowd but failed miserably because almost all them wore white. Well, my blue costume however really did highlighted my pink lipstick and metallic torquise eyeshadows.... hahaha... i'm kidding ok. But I did get complimented when I went in a bank to exchange some money. The guy on the counter said, in a sincere tone, 'Nice costume'. I replied, 'Thank you!' . Yohoo I can pass as a real Balinese!

We went around visiting various temples, joined in their ceremonies, praying. We just had an awesome wonderful experience!

During the long Raya holidays, we went back to Johor. Coming back to KL, his Auntie and Axton came along to stay with us for a few days. Prior to that, we had Auntie her hair cut and permed in this really old hair saloon and the hairdresser is a grandma and all the customers are also old ladies! Buddy said she was the best hairdresser in town before and even had her training in Japan long long time ago. The hairdresser grandma was so cranky. When we went to her saloon, 3 customers were already there. Auntie commented, 'oh so many people'. She replied, 'where got many people there are only 3 of them', with smirk in her face... (so bitchy haha). I told buddy, 'wah she's so fierce' and he said 'yeah she can get upset very fast'.

Buddy flipped through some old old 80's magazine which was plenty in there and chose a hairstyle for Auntie. He chose one similar to this photo but a little bit shorter

and asked cranky grandma to make auntie's hair look like this. And everyone were so busybody (oh yeah they were aunties!) and all looked at the photo (which i find really funny scene) and had they all had this really amused looks.

So back in KL, for the past few days, somebody prepared our meals, did the laundry and clean the house... yohoo!

But Axton would pee everywhere! we had to teach him to pee in the toilet. In Johor, he will do it outside but here we are in the 9th floor. He is a good boy though cos he would go to the toilet to poopoo by the floor, we didn't teach him that.

One weekend, we bring auntie for shopping. Buddy coloured her hair the day before. He asked, 'should we choose a red color for her?'. Hey c'mmon, don't make her look funny, stick to black, I told him.

He fixed her hair before we went out. He used his playball paste, which is really like wax. And I commented, 'I don't think that fits for her hair, see her hair looks like she has not taken shower. Should use something like a hair mousse'. What is hair mousse? he asked. I think its like a hair gel, I answered. Hmmm we had no clue what is a hair mousse, I just pick that term up somewhere haha.

He also got her to do some face mask before that. And for the finishing touch, sprayed her Very Irresistible Givenchy Rose Centifolia (which is his by the way, opps hes gonna kill me haha). And told him, 'so u both are going to smell the same'. No la, I used another one (Dior Addict 2 hah)

She wore her Sunday's best. She also wore the strand of pearls that I gave her before. We both took photos of her (me with my camera and buddy with his). Auntie sit here, smile, nice... stand there, smile... :) I think she enjoyed it, she must be thinking, wow, I feel like Naomi Campbell.. hahaha..

Anyway, Auntie and Axton already went back to Johor. We are also back to normal life now:)

D&G Anthology

Last weekend, we saw and got to sniff D&G's new line of fragrances Anthology. And I just love the smell of one of them but I can't remember now exactly which one (I think it's the L’Amoureaux 6). Anyway, I might be buying a bottle soon. I've read that they are made by Procter&Gamble, some so called fragrance experts thought its cheap smelling, P&G = mass market, blah blah (hmmm not only does intellectual snobbery exist but scent snobbery as well but i don't care:).

Fragrance is one of my weakness;) but I usually wear lightly (becoming an odour pollution to anyone is not good:), unlike one of the senior managers in our company, he always smelt strongly of fragrance everyday and leave his scent anywhere he goes in our building. And I can tell what he's wearing! Anyway, somebody from outside who happens to know him told me this manager likes to hire prostitutes (hahaha gossip).

When I smell a familiar scent, somehow it always bring back memories of persons or situations associated with it.
